This article is definitely worth a reading - and maybe a second as well. Florida, as a state, will not allow for any students to travel to countries it has deemed as supporting terrorism. This was upheld as a state chosing to use discretion in the doling out of funds, but many feel that it should have been overturned due to foreign politics being a federal issue.
I can see both sides of this issue. Those for it feel that they should not fuel enemies or potential enemies. Those against it feel that we should not offend other countries and/or that students should be able to experience all types of life and countries.
It will certainly be interesting to see how this plays out with other states.
